Ginkgo Film Festival 2025

Narrative | Documentary | Animation

Introduction

“Lights, camera, action.” These iconic words have sparked dreams, launched careers, mesmerized audiences, and brought countless stories to life. Welcome to the heart of the Gingko Film Festival 2025 (GFF 2025) –– a celebration of storytelling, creative vision, and cinematography.

Grounded by the belief that everyone has a story within them, GFF is committed to being the place where stories take root. This film festival offers a vibrant platform for aspiring student filmmakers to share their perspectives and push the boundaries of film, culminating in the in-person screening and awards ceremony in September 2025, hosted on the Beijing City International School (BCIS) campus. Organized by BCIS students, GFF 2025 exemplifies the spirit of student agency, leadership, and collaboration –– core values of both the school and festival. As BCIS celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, GFF is proud to be part of the festivities, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to progressive, cosmopolitan education since its founding in 2005.

GFF 2025 is a stellar opportunity for film enthusiasts internationally. As GFF is committed to the highest quality of judging, ensuring a fair and educational experience for all, GFF judges are industry professionals including but are not limited to Sun Ling, the lead in Jackie Chan’s screenwriting team; Jenny He, director for BBC, Google, and WHO foundation; He Yanjiang, the Director of the China Film Group Corporation; and Yinhongbo, producer of famous films such as “Let the Bullet Fly” and “The Sun Also Rises.”

As much as it is a celebration of cinematic excellence, GFF also aims to be a learning opportunity, cultivating interest among young, passionate filmmakers. Other than the in-person screening and awards ceremony, there will also be an educational panel discussion with industry titans, tailored feedback after screenings, and fascinating networking opportunities. This prestigious opportunity is not to be missed this coming September.

Inaugural Theme: VISION OF THE FUTURE

The theme, "Visions of the Future," challenges young filmmakers to reflect on the rapid changes in technology, society, the environment, and more. The BCIS Mission & Vision encourages us to pause amidst our fast-paced world and share our hopes, concerns, and dreams for tomorrow. By exploring these ideas through film, we will enrich our collective narrative. Together, by merging art with our aspirations, we can shape a future that we truly believe in!
